It typically takes a long time to build a firing case if it's performance-related.

However, if the office is restructuring through layoffs, it would not be hard to eliminate the position, then hire someone else by expanding/changing the basic job description.

Ad spending is going to go soft overall in Q4 of this year and into Q1 of next — at least, my pals in publishing/sales are saying that — and I would not be surprised if ePrize has layoffs before/after the holidays. It's been my experience that companies will often use layoffs as ways to clear the office of people they consider underperformers or difficult to work with.

Then again, if Melissa's really good at her job, they'll bend over backwards to keep her. We don't know, because the only context in which she's ever talked about what she does for a living is in the lunch order perks and adultery accusations.

At work, sneaky, GOMI reader, first time poster.

Michigan is an "at will" employment state meaning an employee who is performing all expected duties properly and obeying company rules can still be fired. A stellar job performance will not protect the employee from termination.  Unless she has a contract specifically stating the acceptable reasons for termination, they can fire her just because they feel like it.

Regarding Friend of the Court – She knows damn well she can log on to the MiCase website and see when they receive the money, how much is owed, if anything is in arrears, etc.  FOC has 2 days to deposit it into your account or send you a check.  Yes, it's an imperfect system but I'm sure she has the FOC phone number and website.  If not, then someone should offer to teach her how to Google.

Wait, let me help:

The lady herself, on Facebook earlier this week:

From a wedding a friend attended this past weekend.

"Do not be committed to the person who stands before you, because they will change. Be committed to the covenant of marriage.

Individuals might change, but covenants never do."

And then, in response to comments like "Not sure I agree with this…" and "What if the covenant turns out to be an asshole?"

Of course there are reasons to divorce. Always.

But expecting someone to stay the same and leaving because they didn't, is foolish and totally beside the point of making marriage vows.

It goes on.  But she's doing great, you guys!  Logan who?

She seems like she's starting another downward spiral. It seems like when she started dating again that her "love life" was going to fall into place and that she'd "beat" logan into another relationship. But it hasn't worked out that way and Logan is dating somoeONE again.

How do you know for sure that Logan is dating again?

Honestly?

Be committed to the covenant of marriage? WTF does that even mean?

I didn't marry a covenant. I married my husband. I expect both of us to grow, change, get wrinkles, get saggy…etc…but I didn't marry no stinkin' covenant!I married him.

As much as she tries to be all "I'm good! I'm single! I'm happy! I'm wearing kickapow skirts and getting my hair dyed", I wish she would just admit she misses Logan. It's okay to miss your ex. But to do so for her would be like admitting some kind of defeat. <– This is what makes me think that Logan has a new piece.

I don't think Melissa would have been so quick to try to get back out there on the dating scene if he didn't. I think she thought (as much as she said she was just "keeping it casual"), that she'd find someone else PDQ.

Hmmmm (from her Twitter feed), the company she works for, ePrize, just got acquired:

Oh you know, just getting acquired. RT : We're excited to announce we've been acquired by Catterton Partners! |

Wonder what the might hold in terms of job security?

And from her Facebook page (I swear, I'm not all stalk-y; this is just the first time I've checked in on Melissa's ever-evolving drama-filled life in a few weeks…):

Remember that time I got out of a mental hospital, started a new job and then found out my husband was leaving me? Remember how I could barely breathe and so I wrote about how painful it all was?
And then, because I was in essence having a nervous breakdown, I made a crap ton of cash?
I'd like to do that and not have to have a nervous breakdown to get it.
Ps: money you're just awful.

The mention of make $$$ off her suicide attempt feels both gross and a bit of a "f-you" to the haters.

I's be worried if I was Melissa. A buy-out usually leads to job cuts. The new company will try to find ways to be more profitable.

Thanks, Jane.

It just a bit borderline-obsessive to post three times in a row…but I've been missing out!

I'd be as well. New owners usually means layoffs for existing staff as the new guys looks to trim.
