I don't take off the day after a half, only after a full. After my last marathon, I drove home six hours after it, and was back to my regular activity (although no running) the next day. But I regularly run the half distance (or more) on the weekends, so halfs aren't a big deal for me. (I'm pretty slow, too.)

i dunno was definitely too sore yesterday (day after) to do anything. today I feel like myeslf again and running would be fine.  I just thought it was her addiction making her do exercise. however, if i was on a small vacay with my husband the day after the race, i probably would skip the elliptical but im not her. so sorry, so fat, so lazy.

I'm going back a few pages to add my two cents on why HRG gets so much love but does a lot of things other HLBs do that makes them GOMI.

It's be cause she comes off as truly genuine. While Tuna, HTP and others may be nice on the blog (sometimes) it's not who they truly are. I think Janae is truly so very sweet in real life. Those people do exist and she just seems HAPPY. I emailed her once about a personal, maybe overstepping my bounds question and she replied quickly and answered my question. She's SOMI. She makes me smile and want to be a sweeter person.

I also can't relate to just another Mormon whose sole purpose in life seems to be to pop out babies and worship her husband.

Really dude, did you just say that? Over-generalizations based on someone's religion…it's just ignorant and shallow.  She's not even preaching her faith, or has even said anything like that…let that part of her personal life be.

Just like some people don't get the love, I don't get the hate.  I don't know, like weebo12 said above, she just seems genuine. I don't think she is disordered – I have never gotten that vibe.  I find her down to earth even with the hyperbole and rainbows.  Haha seems contradictory, but I think she is aware of how over the top she can be and jokes with herself about it.  I'm not saying her blog is a must-read, but it's not so bad either.

I read HRG because she is so different from me and I find her whole situation fascinating.  Sometimes her unwavering positivity is a little grating, and I still find her bounce back to running from pregnancy totally unreal (but I have no experience whatsoever so what do I know).

As for the religion thing, I'm really curious about that.   Are all of her new friends in CA from her church?  Sometimes she casually mentions church things and I wonder what sorts of things they do there.  On a semi-totally unrelated note– do liberal Mormons stick together on a church by church basis, or can liberal and more conservative Mormons attend the same church?

The church is made up of liberals and conservatives…they don't separate people based on their political views.  People are friends with whoever they want to be friends with.  Pretty sure all her friends in CA are from church.  It's a very active church and it's easy to meet people.

Ha. Was waiting for someone to get mad at that. Take this as the product of a very large catholic family, Mormons are not supposed to use birth control, and are taught that the husband is the head of the household. If not for that pesky Book of Mormon, the religions would probably be one and the same ;). Thus I'm not over generalizing tremendously as this girl is a
fully active and abiding Mormon.

There ate very few liberal Mormons, or true Catholics for that matter. In both churches gays are only really accepted through abstinence. Anyway, didn't mean to make this a religious discussion, but I stand by my statements. It doesn't mean I don't like Mormons, it just means I don't agree with their beliefs.

Sorry, but this is 100% false.

"Husband and wife are encouraged to pray and counsel together as they plan their families. Issues to consider include the physical and mental health of the mother and father and their capacity to provide the basic necessities of life for their children.

Decisions about birth control and the consequences of those decisions rest solely with each married couple…" (taken from here: http://www.lds.org/topics/birth-control )

I just want to clear that up.

While I don't like that the statement above implies that there are "consequences" of the decisions to use bc, I'll admit I was wrong! I 'll just exit left, as I feel that I'll never really be able to relate to HRG, and that's ok. I never really followed her on a regular basis anyway. I hold my convictions that she's still severely disordered, and that's it.

Not to overgeneralize, but I grew up in a city with a large Mormon population and I think their church totally embraces new congregants (if that's what they call them). She and Billy probably walked right into the new marrieds or new parents class, and so they have a lot in common with the others. When I was a teen, I was invited to a dance at the Mormon church one Friday. I had the MOST FUN EVER, seriously. They had a horse trailer there, and if you weren't dancing, you got put in the trailer until someone came over and asked you to dance. So it was totally non-pressured. It was OK to ask the totally hot guy to dance because you both didn't want to be put in the horse trailer.

I may not agree with their doctrine, but it is my opinion that they are very friendly people. They didn't try to "witness" to me, either.

I've got a Mormon friend and when she moved to a new city she instantly had a million new friends because of the church.

It almost makes me want to convert ;)
