just found this from march 2010, couldnt help but lol

My mom bought me this necklace after a major incident during my junior year of high school. Long story short, I had to do something really difficult and I turned into the most hated person in my grade… and probably at the school. You know in cliche high school movies when the nerd walks down the hallway, and everyone is standing next to their lockers saying mean things to her (my new nickname was the Snitch B—-), spitting on her? Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what happened to me. [BTW- this is probably why the whole Venus Fly Trap-college mean girl-cyber bullying issue was more annoying than upsetting to me. Old news. Grow up. Okay, enough ranting.] Anyways, this Dogeared necklace is to symbolize following my heart and doing the right thing, even when it's not the easiest thing to do.

Also, I don't think she knows how to actually go out. She posted a picture from her friend's bachelorette party once and everyone was dressed like, you know, early 20 somethings going out  for a bachelorette party (heels, party dresses, etc). She wore a full skirted sleeveless dress (like something i'd dress a toddler in for a holiday party), and accessorized with her glasses. Womp womp. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CiWPv7G9nHc/T_bwFMP6BsI/AAAAAAAAJ48/FAGmdCMudIg/s400/DSC_0377.JPG

I'm almost embarrassed at how invested I am in this..

I'm kind of embarrassed of how invested you are in this as well (and of myself, too, of course). Yeah, not the best bachelorette party outfit, but the rest of the girls- including the bride- aren't really even dressed for a bachelorette party. If the two girls on the left weren't dressed like they were going out to South Beach, Carly wouldn't look so out of place. She's said many times that she hates going out and, you're right, she probably doesn't know how to go out because she doesn't like it. I'm sure her friend appreciated that she made an effort to go out and enjoy herself even though it was out of her comfort zone.

First post-I've been reading for awhile but now that JGIWC, CP, AND M&M are on here I had to comment.

I think Carly has worked very hard to get where she is now. I've read her blog from the beginning and am secretly jealous that her blog has become quite a business/success story. I don't want to blog full time or anything like that but I admit I'd like to have Kate Spade and Jack Rogers know me by name (yes, I am admitting it!). BUT I don't like how sponsored/materialistic her blog has gotten. She introduces new sponsors but other than that she never reveals if she is being compensated. She never puts disclaimers in posts and I don't like that she'll post about a dress or bag that was obviously gifted without saying so (the tote from Tuckernuck, etc). It seems sneaky and like she's just trying to get sales for the companies (and not just sharing something she liked).

I'm not knocking Carly's work ethic; she's clearly driven towards achieving whatever it is she's trying to achieve. But it's interesting to watch her blog morph into the epitome of consumerism and see her post about any and every company that reaches out to her. She should update her self-description to say "Quirky-Type A-Workaholic-Sellout."

And major LOL to the above excerpt from the March 2010 post. While I, too, could easily be labeled as a 'goody two-shoes,' my guess is that if the ENTIRE school had that negative of a reaction to whatever you snitched about, it wasn't the right thing to say something. There's a line between doing the right thing and being a goody-goody bitch.

Also, with regard to the rowing team, it's obvious even in her general reflection posts of her time as coxswain that she wasn't loved. I rowed for four years and the team was like a family, as most crews are. She doesn't talk about her crew experience like that, which leads me to easily agree with the idea that the boys in her boat didn't like her.

I used to be a fan of Carly's blog prior to her senior year at Georgetown because she was one of the few bloggers who would show and discuss clothes or whatever that didn't cost a fortune.  Her senior year her tone started to change and the blog just because –as someone mentioned earlier– a shopping list for J.Crew and Kate Spade. Or some blabbering post using cliched quotes.

She recently wrote for the Levo League about how she didn't have a cent of student loans from Georgetown and she implies that it's because she somehow paid for it with her blog money. Um, I doubt it. She tweeted last year that her dad paid her school bill. Its obvious that her parents give her money but I don't think they give her as much as they used to. She wasn't working for a few months after she graduated and yet she ups and moves to Manhattan to a one bedroom apartment by herself? I don't buy it.  She's been recycling a lot of her outfits from college and I'm not really geting the vibe that she's spending that much money on clothes. She does look amazing in that Alice + Olivia dress, though.  I'm pretty jealous of that.

I am pretty pisssed because I fought tooth and nail to get into Georgetown and only got waitlisted. She got into Georgetown and basically threw the entire experience away by sitting in her dorm room with only her internet friends to talk to. I will admit she works hard for what she's got I just wish she wasn't so vague on everything.

As I recall, one boy from the team is her good friend. And why does it have to be that the BOYS didn't like her? Is it so unfathomable that they all got along just fine, or even that SHE didn't really like THEM? She doesn't talk warm and fuzzy about anyone on her blog- even her own family.

I am by no means saying that Carly is perfect. I do find her naive and privileged; I also think she is an incredibly hard worker and just not a people person. But I find it crazy how badly people on this board seem to tear her down for every. little. thing. (and yes- I lurked on the board prior to the tweet/Levo League article)

I remember that tweet too. I'm fairly certain her dad paid for most of it. There's no way she got a need-based federal grant, but maybe she got scholarships? She always implied she had bad grades, though.

I think her bad grades were mostly her freshman year. After her sophomore year they seemed to improve. I'm not sure she got much in the way of scholarships. She may have gotten a little bit of money when she was on the rowing team but I don't think it would be that much, or enough to make much of a dent in a $35k/year tuition bill.

For some reason thought her dad was a lawyer, but apparently he owns something called Carbucks, which is one of those seemingly seedy places where you sign over your car title in exchange for a loan aimed at desperate low-income folk.  He also gave $2.4k to a failed Republican congressional candidate in South Carolina back in 2010.  And for those who are into the news and the Petraeus scandal, Carly met both Gen. Petraeus and Gen. Allen back in 2009.  Nothing scandalous but I found it funny.

(FYI, I work from home so I generally have no trouble taking time to do too much digging on bloggers I hate read.)

It used to be a really cute blog a few years ago. She was more open about things and not everything was J.Crew/Kate Spade. Then her senior year the tone changed and she started doing this whole "branding" thing with her blog and it went downhill pretty fast. I used to really enjoy it but ever since she pretty much took herself out of the blog it's no fun to read anymore. I still hate read and should stop but I can't.  But for as often as she shills J.Crew it's funny she can't get a job with them. I understand her current job is just an entry-level position and she probably won't be there for very long but she's going to have a major reality check when she finds out that most other jobs out there aren't the  Good-Time-Charlie of the Levo League and she'll have to actually do some work and not just some half-assed simplistic Photoshop work.
