In the e-mail I received from her this morning, she wrote:

Hey lovebug,

It’s time for me to raise the price of the Amazing Biz and Life Academy.

I'm writing to let you know how you can get in on the low price.

Price will be going up from $199 to $497 on 1 October.

The last time the price was about to increase (from $99.00 to $199), I joined the Academy (then it was called The Goddess Circle). I don't have much time atm to detail the various reasons I don't believe it was actually worth $199, let alone the $3,855.55 she claims it's worth…

But I wanted to start a thread here, because Leonie isn't into negativity, or negative feedback, or anything like that:

I always treat everyone in my world with respect, courtesy and kindness. If you wish to send shitty emails because you feel pissed I’m raising my prices, please know I will ban yo ass on social media/email/Academy faster than you can speak. Abuse of any kind is a big ole no-no in my world. I say this because money can press buttons and shoes can get thrown. If you feel your money buttons are pressed, this is a terrific time to start working on it using your usual tools. Helpful hint: sending bitchy emails isn’t a useful healing tool.

That's from the e-mail, and this is from her blog:

It’s okay if you don’t resonate with me at this time. You do not need to let me know if you don’t resonate with me, or think I should be different. I don’t need to know about it as I’m concentrating on serving the people I do resonate with.

But Leonie doesn't offer refunds. So if you realize, after buying her overpriced bundle of positivity, that Leonie's e-books just don't "resonate" with you, too bad.

I really, really liked Leonie when I first came across her. And I still kind of do. But yeah, wanted to start this thread in case anyone had complaints or experiences with the Academy or Circle or whatever to share.

I joined her community back in 2011 when the price was $99, and was pleasantly surprised with the Business e-course and the 2011 workbook. It's cute and full of nuggets of wisdom, but then again, nothing you can't find for much cheaper in spirituality and business books.

But omg her new price is totally bonkers.

The academy is not worth $500! The forums are pretty dead, there's a lot of self promotion going on, and members are generally nice hippie ladies who don't know what they want/are doing.

But, as she said, new e-courses are coming, especially the new one about business, which theoretically is worth $2000. Tbh I don't think any course on the web is worth that price, especially this one, which seems to be a B-school copycat with rainbows and meditations added.

I understand that her business is growing and she needs to up her profile in the "marketing guru" sphere to be taken seriously, but these prices & practices absolutely don't reflect the reality of what she offers.

That's kind of hilarious. I joined the community when it was $99 and relatively new. There were some really cool people there and I did like her business e-course. I cancelled when the price went up to $199 per year because I didn't think the forums/e-courses were worth that price. She is delusional if she thinks that the circle membership is worth $500 per year.

What kind of stuff does she teach?? Is it just how to make your blog make you $$? This just seems ridiculous, plus the fact that you have to pay EVERY year to access the material.

I joined way back when it was $99 a year, so that is what I pay every year, unless I were to cancel and rejoin. I do like the annual new year workbooks and find them useful, but I never used the forums. I will probably not renew though; I've kind of outgrown the whole thing. I know Leoni IRL, she is a friend of a friend. Initially, I joined just to support her in her endeavors. The whole goddess thing never resonated with me, but I like her as a person and thought she had good ideas. I did always wonder how long her financial success could continue, just like how I wonder how all the others of this ilk (Danielle LaPorte, Marie Forleo, etc.) can stay financially successful…and relevant. This shit gets old. Leonie is a savvy business woman, so I think there must be some method to the seeming madness of raising the price like that. I think it is insane, personally. I would never pay that much, but maybe she figures she will get a ton of people signing up now at the lower rate, or maybe she feels all us $99 folks will renew. She is the sole earner in her family, so she has to hustle. I like her and hope it works out for her, but I think that price is ridiculous.

It's mostly ideas on how to market yourself. I'm self-employed (nothing to do with blogging) and I did get some good ideas and feedback from her and other women on the forum. But then the forum kind of died out and I didn't feel like there was anything more to be gleaned so I cancelled.

I think you're right. She can't seriously expect a steady stream of new subscriptions at this price. Paying $500 every year for basic business unicorn advice, no way in hell.

Just today I realized you can't buy her ecourses separately from the Academy anymore. She is really out for the money. uh

I too think the price is very high, but I never bought the package to begin with. Just some separate stuff, and I loved it.

Anyway, I love Leonie, and I will WK her till the bitter end :-)

I was waiting for the time I'd see her on here. All the hippie mom bloggers I can think of have her icon on their page so I checked out her site, read her free material and was left…underwhelmed? She seems to have done really well for herself and it seems from folks who have bought her academy material that she did have some good advice.

I can't stand her newsletters though, the obnoxious petnames she gives readers make me want to puke. Is she talking to 4 year olds or grown ass women?

The way she speaks to her followers is another thing I found super annoying. I don't need to be spoken to like I'm in preschool, thanks. If you watch any of her videos she is like that all the time, super gushy and "spiritual." Maybe she smokes a lot of weed, IDK.

I wondered about the quality of Leonie's products. I'm subscribed to her newsletter (though I too find it irritating the way she addresses her subscribers like they're children and says things like 'It’s okay if you don’t resonate with me at this time') and sometimes they seem quite tempting.

I always found Leonie's voice to be quite grating for some reason. I remember reading some years ago that her 1-on-1 consultations were $1000 for an hour.

I like Leonie's illustrations, but I am really over online courses in general. They never seem to be as good as promised and most suggestions of an "online community" amount to almost no posting, or the person running the course posting a generic message once a week (that has been recycled for every previous incarnation of the course) and not replying to comments etc.

At the end of the day I'm not sure that Leonie has anything new to say, and I very much doubt any online course is worth $2000. Does anyone know what she bases that figure on? Given that I'm pretty sure she doesn't have a lot of qualifications or registeration with a training body, she can't be comparing herself to a professional trainer. Sounds like a figure pulled out of thin air.

I remember being surprised by the quality of Leonie's Business goddess e-course. But when I subscribed to the Academy, I knew nothing about business, so everything was new for me then: blogging, newsletters, wordpress plug ins, ecourses, etc. She shares her story (she does that a lot), how she built her business and what softwares she uses. There's worksheets too. It's quite useful if you're new and never googled that shit. Plus it's pretty and have unicorns.

To be honest, the rest of her e-courses and meditations are boring. I tried to do the Goddess Haven & Creative goddess ecourses, it sucks donkey balls. drool

I honestly don't think Leonie has something new to bring to the table. Like every business coach/marketer out there, she read books and then proceeded to recycle some timeless principles in a voice that fits her niche (hippy moms and wannabe 'artists' in her case). Nothing groundbreaking or worth the money she asks for. I admit her visuals sets her apart though.

For her new $2000 course, I really believe she wants to compete with Marie Forleo's B-school, at least money-wise. But as B-school sucks and isn't worth the dough, I really don't feel good about this one.
