I've been lurking for awhile but it took this to get me to post something.  Has anyone else seen the article on Oxygen magazine's publisher going bankrupt?  I looked forward to getting it every month and it had some great training articles too.  It sounds like there is some behind the scenes drama from the Robert Kennedy publishing staff from the comments posted on Tosca Reno's blog post (she is Robert Kennedy's wife and took over when he died last year).  I have several of her Clean Eating books as well as a subscription to the Clean Eating magazine which is in the same boat as Oxygen.  It is too bad that they're gone-they were my favorites.

That blows. The only magazine I've been published in was Clean Eating.

I know someone who was a writer there. After the owner passed away it became a total shitstorm and they fired everyone, cut pay, etc. I guess it was actually a relief for it all to be over, as they were WAY overworked and underpaid.

I used to love Oxygen but haven't read it in a few years. I picked up a copy of Clean Eating on our last vacation and really liked it. I didn't even know Robert had died.

I am a long time Tosca fan and felt so awful for her when Robert died. I had been getting an odd vibe from her blog posts since her figure competition last year. She seems to really deprive herself of foods she loves (which I guess she has to as part of her image/brand). Also, the insider comments from staff on the blog post above make me wonder.

As for Oxygen/CE… I've subscribed for years but just cancelled my Oxygen and switch to digital for CE. Oxygen was so repetitive and lost a lot of its heart after Robert died. As for CE, the recipes became blah and too low fat/high carb for my liking. I liked the mag but was losing interest since Chef Jo's face was plastered all over the thing.

Wow, I would LOVE to talk to some of those ex-staffers for a post. Sounds juicy!

I hate Oxygen.  I used to subscribe but it was the same recycled material month after month.  I would literally read something I swore I had read before so would go back into a previous month's edition and find the same information word for word.

same. it was a huge change from womens health when i first started reading it… i still prefer it… but i think you can only subscribe for 2 years before it gets too repetitve. if that!

sorry to hear about everyone not being treated well/out of a job, but tosca will be fine… she has $$$

I was surprised to read that Oxygen was still around. It's one of the worst 'fitness' magazines around, or at least it used to be. I found it way too glossy and definitely too repetitive. The worst part was that a lot of articles weren't scientifically sound. I can only hope they're gone. They've been around way too long.

The comments on Tosca's blog are HARSH!  I can't wait for the 'real' story to come out.

I just let my Oxygen and Clean Eating subscriptions lapse a few months ago.  I'm so happy I didn't renew.

they will either transfer your subscription over to another magazine within that publishing company, or they will give you a refund. you can always call their subscriber services number and ask them directly for a refund.

when blender went under i ended up getting a subscription to maxim, so… i'd go with the refund option.
