David Karp Doesn’t Care About Your Complaints, He Has A Sweet Ride

Fresh on the heels of users posting laundry lists of complaints, David Karp, the 20-something playing CEO of tumblr, went out and got himself a present:

Just got this! It’s registered to Rachel since the insurance was cheaper. :)

Is this just how Karp deals with getting handed money or getting criticism? I’m all for him enjoying all that free money, but it just feels like he’s been on a 4 month spending spree. But what do I know, maybe he is using that 10 million in venture capital to improve the tumblr user experience, hire qualified professional staff, and get the queue feature working again, and I’m just a jealous hater.

total aside comment, that photography is great (angle, colors, pattern juxtaposition, etc.)

PP, at the risk of incurring your wrath…”free money”? I’m not a Tumblr user, so I’m willing to believe that the service sucks right now, but founders (of Tumblr the company, not Tumblr accounts) work their asses off at some point. It’s only free money if it’s gifted or you stole it.

Why would you incur my wrath? Maybe you know more than I do, and the tumblr team is working round the clock to improve their service. They may have worked their asses off at some point, but from where 99% of their users sit, at THIS point they sitting on their asses. It really seems they just setup the tumblr framework and have done only the most basic requested system improvements at twice a year intervals and generate little to no profit margin, while somehow getting handed millions upon millions of dollars.

Now obviously *I* do not work at tumblr, nor am I their project leader or accountant, so they may be the hardest working people in the entire tech world for all I would be aware. But if they are working as furiously as you think and accomplishing so little, I think it’s time we all stop being so impressed with them. Just my opinion. You are welcome to yours :)

I’m not saying they’re working hard now – if they are, they must be working dumb for users to be this pissed. But I’ve yet to meet a platform
founder* who did sweet FA to earn their investment.

Isn’t it sorta illegal to register a vehicle to someone who’s not the primary owner/driver? Why would he put that info online?! I hope the insurance company finds out and kicks his ass.

    • avatar partypants says:

I would think you could register it to anyone you wanted? I don’t know a lot about being a millionaire and being able to just register shit.

    • avatar Scooby Don't says:

Yes, he is an idiot for posting this as it is a form of insurance fraud called fronting.
Fronting is registering someone other than the real primary driver of a vehicle as the primary driver of the vehicle to get lower rates. Parents of young drivers do this most often by registering themselves as primary drivers of their kid’s cars to avoid paying young driver penalties. I think we all know how forgiving insurance companies are of people who try to pull a fast one on them.
BTW here’s the link to http://www.fraudny.com/
Which explains further about this and also has a link for reporting offenders ….not that anyone reading this blog knows of anyone who would do that.

  5. Why is a child millionaire telling us how he saved money on his Geico or whatever? Shut up, rich people.
